What an amazing four hours you had Flutterby and all those lifers - truly amazing.

Your pics are the greatest - especially the Aumur Falcon in flight. well done.

Rietvlei is showing that summer is taking a bow... :-(

Sitting at Otterbridge I found myself counting the yellow leaves that have started falling,

and Red Bishops aren't that red anymore..

This is the first chameleon I have seen in Rietvlei

Image

as for Yellow fronted Canary (is this id correct?)

Image

And a glossy Ibis (non breeding?)

Think I stumbled over a nest of Ant eating Chats - great to see them in numbers again.

Image

A lifer for me is the African snipe - I found myself saying : my, what a long beak you have.

Funny colour on the chameleon, but adds to its charm nevertheless. ^Q^

After my stop at the coffee shop I headed to Fern Fountain hide hoping to see the European Honey Buzzard but no luck. I did see this colourful fellow but he was too quick for me.

Image

A BSK.

Image

Then something I've never seen in Rietvlei before...a snake. O:V Not sure what model it is. ;-)

Image

Image

These waterbuck were very skittish, but very pretty! ;-)

Image

Daddy was keeping his eye on me...

Image

...and so were the moms!

Image

This Cape Longclaw had a lot to say for itself!

Image

Back at Otter Bridge another first in Rietvlei...a crab. \O

Image

I started heading out the park, and saw the falcons flying around again and a Black-chested Snake-eagle but still couldn't get a decent pic. :-( As I approached the tree where Amoli said she had seen her falcon I could see a bird perching there, and what do you know...my chance to get a close up of an Amur Falcon!! O/\ O/\ Thanks Amoli! O0

I don't think that the Amur falcon is sitting there the whole day, so you were very lucky O\/ O\/

You really saw lots  O:V \O
