So restful, Pumbaa! ^Q^

Yes, it is amazing how one can find a quiet loop even on those busy roads...

lol The boons behave just like we do \O

That lion sighting must have simply been amazing when the king was relaxed enough to give a lot of people the chance to enjoy his presence O\/

Like that stork and the kingfisher ^Q^

Drizzled it earlier it meanwhile got dryer but still was extreme cloudy but we did not bother and were enjoying the much cooler weather and so obviously did also the herd of elephants we

Image

noted next in another smaller loop along the Sabie. We stood luckily with the car a bit elevated whilst they could be found on the banks of the river and so we did not get any heart attacks as they were indeed close

Image

but all of them were totally relaxed and one even laid down to either take a little nap or to simply enjoy the fresh mud.

Image

It was such a peaceful scene and we simply enjoyed being part of that

Image

the one on the ground got company

Image

whilst the little ones were playing.

Image

We stayed with them until they finally disappeared between the thick bushes and we carried on and noticed a Wahlberg eagle

Image

and a squirrel.

Image

Overall we anticipated with more road closures in that area but the only road which was closed was to our bad luck the S30 which we wanted to drive normally a bit but nevertheless we so far could not complain about the day. The rest of our drive got quiet again and we only stopped again on the causeway across the Sabie and spotted there a green backed heron,

and another red bishop

Image

before it was time again for another visit to Lake Panic where we soon discovered one of the many green backed herons in hunting mode,

Image[

a hamerkop

Image

and to our delight a giant kingfisher just landed on top of one of those famous branches

Image

whilst the rain set in once again.

Image

After we settled ourselves completely and looked nearly everywhere we detected a squacco,

Image

a juvenile green backed heron

Image

and whilst the pied kingfishers still stayed in the background the jacana dad was still guarding his precious eggs

Image

Image

and even sat on same.

Image

to be continued…..

A very nice elephant sequence. Always something to watch when these small herds stop to drink or enjoy the mud \O

A beautiful squirel pic O/\ O/\ ;-)

Next year I am going to spent lots of time in hides, especially the Lake Panic one; bringing to eat, to drink and a book  \O
