What is the situation/progress with the proposed hotels in Kruger?

for itself!! No question, however not over the back
of these small confines that manage too eek a living
for the mere plus it has in life!!!

Kruger cannot sustain these meager theories in life
and still support people outside it's national boundaries!!!

We must avoid using Kruger as a political crowbar!!!!

We must stop comparing natural, "National wealth",
better known as heritage, too common national poverty!!!

SANParks intends to build in the
Kruger National Park until the end of
the 2017/18 financial year, whether
any hotel and lodge developments
other than the Malelane and Skukuza
developments are being planned
and what the current status is of the
proposed Malelane development.
The Minister of Water and Environmental
Affairs,
Ms Edna Molewa,
replied:
The following hotels and lodges are
planned, and depending on funding and
feasibility, may be built in the Kruger
National Park in the next five years:
Malelane Safari Lodge, Skukuza
Conference Lodge,
Shangoni Lodge (the
site is still to be determined but will
be on the periphery of the park and
possibly outside the Kruger National Park
boundary).

So we are concocting and conniving behind the scenes!!

Funding of the completion, the said EIA report seems to
be somewhat problematic!!!

Details regarding the minutes taken at said meeting cannot
be revealed because there seems to be a funding problem!!,

but we are progressing well????

I take it then that The PDZ strategy has been passed and we can
soon see commercialisation taking place!!!

A far cry from the original blunt "It will be so" approach, and definitely due to public pressure, IMO.

But probably disaster management/shenanigans going on behind the scenes indeed!

PDZ not approved, unless secret. "New vision and Mission" seems to have overtaken that...typical.gov, so who knows?

I requested SANParks during May 2012 to please stop all plans for building hotels in the KNP, I was informed that this would not happen as the commercialization is in line with their plans. I was also informed to rather follow the legal route to stop what I requested, I then in consultation with the AIKONA Leader Group decided to do so.

I am confirming that I submitted documents to the Public Protectors office requesting that the commercialization policy of SANParks be investigated and stopped as their priorities seem to have moved from conservation to money making.
AIKONA has requested that the strategic decision to build hotels in the KNP be investigated and that the building of hotels in the KNP be stopped.
We have also raised the matter of the death of 47 Roan Antelope in the breeding enclosure on the eastern plains during August 2012.
It was also mentioned that there seems to a be lack of accountability.

The matter of the 1290 Rhino poached in the KNP since 2008 was also raised together with the situation leading to the Rangers' strike during the period February 2012 until May 2012 amidst the Rhino poaching crisis.
Copies of the documents were also handed to SANParks.
The above are the major issues.
