Now that is a good plan, marry a Barbet!
They both looked after the chicks, but he brought back a lot more food than she did. She's also very grumpy and fought with him a lot! Just before last years chicks left the nest, she disappeared for a couple of days and only returned when they left the nest. The chicks then moved to the other nesting log and he still fed them there, while mom just sat in the tree all day. He is very territorial and used to attack the dash hounds when they come to close, but now he's released that they don't climb trees. He still attacks the neighbour's cat every time he sets foot in the back yard.
