Palmate (ducks, geese, gulls, terns): only the anterior digits (2–4) are joined by webbing.

Totipalmate (darter, pelican, cormorant, gannet): all four digits (1–4) are joined by webbing

Lobate (finfoot, grebe, coot): the anterior digits (2–4) are edged with lobes of skin. Lobes expand or contract when a bird swims.

I have Grebe and American Coot pics, but none showing feet) :no:
