The roan antelope in the Capricorn camp were not inoculated.
That's how much they care about conservation

Alarm lights must go up with
"If the recommendation is supported"....Who needs to support the recommendation from who?
and
"or sold"...which probably answers the above question.
Roan cows go for R200 000...

The story about the elephant bulls is preposterous, to say the least!!!!
Why kill elephant which have broken into an antelope camp in the first place?
I wonder who dreamed this up?
And carcasses were certainly not burned after "vulture watching", as some were over a month old when found as said before!

BTW: Roan from the breeding programme in Mokala are more or less regularly sold.

Ja, Toko, but not much, and disease free.
In Kruger rhino are sold as they are not endangered and overpopulate certain areas...well that was the original premise. Roan are exactly the opposite!
Made calls again, and they are stunned! This nearly 50 year-old roan breeding project, complete with flying in roan from Malawi to strenghthen the gene pool long ago, has been a safeguard against the extinction of roan in Kruger. Even government has admitted the survivors were immediately innoculated, so no reason whatsoever for moving them to "quarantine"...except that it is easier for buyers to pick them up at Skukuza.
If they need to go to Mokala, they can go directly from Phala Gate. If there is an Anthrax risk, it is madness to move them to the South all along Kruger, where Anthrax is very rare! N'washitsumbe had no deaths, and is going fine!
The wheels are falling off fast!

Notice the
post mortem results "suggest" Anthrax.
If less kudu than hippo die, it is highly unusual, to say the least!
