We cannot allow the Malelane Hotel to go forward, there are too many extra things involved.

Personally I couldn't care about the Conference Hotel. It is already in a city that I will never go to and other than more traffic and possible night access it can't spoil what is already a disaster.
I did notice some funds set aside for Park & Ride expenditure

We cannot allow any of these stupid ideas culminating from Sanparks to go forward.
They are operating, adopting a survival strategy!!, like all the other "semi detached" .gov
institutions. A very pleasant buffer zone for misunderstanding and misdemeanor!!
Forever praising at the same time pleading,-"is not my job/responsibility"!!

Good points, H.!
Unless it's a typo or selective bookkeeping, SP funding the Skukuza hotel defies ALL their arguments regarding pleading poverty, lacking .gov funds, only doing major projects with PPP partnerships etc.
The indicated amount NOT spent would cancel budgetary shortfalls complained about for the next 3-5 years, depending on inflation!

Yah indeed RP. It is disgusting to see and realize that a renowned
body such as sanparks lures Big names into business practice along
with themselves!!
We cannot blame any of the outsiders, like vultures in a tree top,
waiting to apply business practice in a well known area such as,...
But the custodian!!!??? Maybe now would be the right time to sell off
Kruger to private enterprise,......

For anyone who is interested: I was at the tender briefing for the appointment of the professional team for the new hotel in Skukuza on Tuesday. It is not being called a hotel anymore, but rather a conference lodge. They would not give too much detail regarding the size etc, but did mention that the architectural designs are finished, and they are looking at appointing the remainder of the professional team asap. I heard rumours of the construction estimate being around R200 mil, but can't confirm this. The new "lodge" will be built in skukuza camp next to the conference centre. Unfortunately that is all they were willing to share. If we get appointed on the project I'll be sure to share all the news here..... -O -O -O

If you do get appointed, I am sure that a small payment will suffice in cocking up the job.

Hi lads

,
Will be good to meet up again alright !
Because the hotel is being built inside the existing camp, and next to the conference centre, I would suspect that there is no need for an EIA. They may have done something smaller like a basic assesment just to confirm no additional impact on the environment, but as I understand it everything is in order, and construction work must commence asap.
