I’m just throwing around ideas here, but it’s always been suggested that the vast majority of poaching in KNP comes from Mozambique, not the entry exit gates.

I believe that not all of the 128 new guards are at the gates but are also helping out elsewhere so benefit may been seen in other areas also

Agreed, but the claim has always been that the poachers are entering via Moz, not the entry exit gates

Maybe the poachers come from Moz and the horns go out the other way with the more important members of the gangs

Random car searchers are the way to go, a friend of mine spent two weeks in the Kruger, went in and out of the park 6 times, was not searched once , this was not a long time ago, it was 6 days ago???????????????

BC, these 128 guards are for the gates only. There are at least four on duty at any given time at Phalaborwa gate, I am sure it is the same at the other gates and some will be on leave and some sick, so those numbers sound right.

Well, nana, I can only go on what I have witnessed, and that is private cars and delivery vehicles are searched, but not taxis? Or not private cars next to taxis?
