Hey guys,
This can be a massive positive:
ND *****speeding with pic , ND ***** occupants parked on the wrong side of the road at leopard sighting on the S3, suspect occupants on the S21 at a rhino sighting, etc, etc.
This isn’t going to stop, only grow, but if it grows correctly it can be a benefit
Nobody can shut this up, so let’s use it for the benefit of wildlife and all that visit KNP. If hosts won’t cooperate let’s start our own group

I hear and support you 100% BC, my problem is this...so you post about someone breaking the rules at a sighting, then what? SanParks sure as heck won't do anything about it and you'll probably find they will accuse people of interfering in their business without their consent (similar to what we had with the Needs Attention exercise of RP's)

"Da da da daa daa daa da da daa da da daa daaa "Kruger circus! Kruger circus!"
Crazeeeeee! Although a good concept that resulted as I read from the evidence into organized chaos! I have installed the whatsapp update for our upcoming visits, but eish, not so sure anymore
Spoke to friends touring the north yesterday, they saw roan and within minutes there was more then 13 cars! Now thats a record for the north IMHO.

Where can I get the number again for reporting offenders and submitting pics etc?
We will let the fauna & flora find us, not otherway around

The number for reporting offenders is on every entrance permit, twigga!
But nothing to get excited about....
Some people like me will hang around and brave the traffic jam sometimes...also interesting to watch the other people! -O
Depends on my mood and time of day!
Nobody has ever been harmed while waltzing around out of cars at sightings as far as I know...at least not by non-humans...
But I suppose it's a matter of time!
Interesting the roan story...shows a high degree of interest in "non-Big 5!"

If you report it to the right people, you might just find that Sanparks does actually do something about it. We have reported 3 incidents at satara and the people got fines each time.

My mother usually gets her way with things -O The best thing to do is at least try do something about it.
And on the topic of BBM/Whatsapp/Twitter/iphone app updates ... those that are inclined to race around from one update to another, are those same people that raced around to pin up sightings that were at camp

I guess they will always be around! I know of many people who use the updates for the reason I do; to build up a database of knowledge of where certain animals are seen. This helps to sooth that never ending curiosity of wondering what is happening in the Park, and affects the routes you choose to take. Once you have sussed out the 'pumping' roads before a trip, it stands you in good steed to see what you desire! A bit of knowledge never hurts

It definitely worked for me in February to see more leopard! More than half of my leopard sightings I had to myself

Hey cheetah
Did you return the favour and report those leopard sightings to those that provided the initial database?
I also follow to achieve what you describe, but one doesn’t need to be a genius to work it out fairly quickly.
You say “a bit of knowledge never hurts”, I agree, but is this good for KNP or the wildlife? It has the potential to create a gang of update addicts who just sit in the reception area and then charge off after the reported sighting.
What is the future when there are 2000 members in the park all following updates on their phones?
Certainly not good for KNP?
It can be good for KNP if it’s utilized correctly. The auto update gang, including me, wouldn’t want to be at a sighting with my pic posted on the same auto update site behaving badly.
It has the ability to be utilized for sightings and the greater good, but again I fear that the greater good isn’t part of the equation as many don’t seem to think about tomorrow or what will happen in 10 years.

Ja...it may work both ways! (re avoiding sightings)...and so be it!
But there's nothing one can do...
Other than trying to utilise the same Message Groups to report misbehaviour, which can have a massive effect!
I agree, cheetah, but not that Kruger staff take prompt action. They are on high alert over the holidays...and that's about it, so you were lucky, IMO...

Personally I will never make use of this method. To me it takes away the surprise and pleasure of the self driving and thus the idea of self spotting. I do not want others to do my spotting!
