Already two instalments - you were busy, Flutts. :-0

Great sightings so far! Like the acacia pied barbet - beautiful bird. O:V Same goes for the touraco. :-)

Wonder if the nyala chick found his mother amongst the impalas though.

Some of my impressions of the morning...

Seeing the animals through kwaMalibala hide.

Image

An Nyala bull quenching his thirst in the early moring.

Image

At kuMasinga hide we saw alot more Nyala.

Image

This Turaco came and sat right next to the waters edge, so got some great close up shots of him, but of course I missed him flying away! -O- --00--

Image

Image

And just before we left the hide, the wildebeest made their entrance!

Good photos, Flutts! ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^

That young bull now is a good pic to put up under "Nyala", so as to contrast with the "horned females"!

The old mangy impala was attacked by something, I think, looking at the scratch marks and nose, possibly a leopard but a while ago? -O-

30 August, Mkuze

Still at kuMasinga Hide.

Emerald Spotted Wood-dove & Red-faced Mousebird

Image

The Turaco also came down to the water.

Image

Black-collared Barbet, Cape Glossy Starling and Red-faced Mousebirds. O:V

Image

Then a family of warties came sprinting down, but these two made it first! =O:

Image

This one wanted a bit of attention! :-)

Image

A couple of Sunbirds were flitting around but it was really hard to get good pics because the wind was howling and blowing them all over the place! :O^

We think these are Purple-banded Sunbirds.

Image

Image

A Sombre Greenbul? :-?

Image

Lots of willies!

Image

You can see there was lots to keep us busy at this hide...we were running from one side to the other to see everything! =O: But we decided to head back to camp to unpack and freshen up. We were booked into the 2 bed huts, so the Brat and I shared and my dad had his own unit. There were very clean communal ablutions and a very large communal kitchen. Each hut even has its own satellite dish and a TV stand and all the cables!! 0- =O:
