We never saw another vehicle on those roads and in places the sand was quite thick.
The trees were really beautiful.

Yes lucky indeed - especially as that was all we saw on that road other than the impala

On the other hand, you probably have to crawl along anyway due to the thick vegetation all over
the place, so chances are good that one doesn't run over any critters.
Sable - what a treat

The forest was quite thick in places and difficult to spot game, but just lovely being there

Every evening was spent at the bar watching the ellies coming and going. They were a bit later today so we enjoyed
finding more birds.
First up a pic of the hide and underground tunnel with the morning sun shining in. In the afternoon the first part of the
tunnel was pitch black and the ladder had to be negotiated very carefully

There were a lot of these flowers in the forests. Its from the Rhodesian Teak tree, known as Kiaat in RSA.

This was a lifter for us. The light was bad so the pics are not great, but proof

African crake and chick.

At the campsite this southern red-billed hornbill was looking for something to nibble on.

A flock of Hartlaub's babblers also came to the campsite. They aren't quite as noisy as their cousins the arrowmarked babbler
Also a lifer

They kept us entertained for a long while.

Thanks for all the beautiful bird pics Pooky.
That Sable is truly magnificent! My favourite antelope. Seeing them on the Chobe Riverfront was the highlight of my visit to the area.

I think I'd find that tunnel a bit claustrophobic!
Lovely flowers on the kiaat tree.
