I was rather amazed that we had suddenly found lion on the Nyathi side. The only road that you can drive along is the road to camp and that's about 6km in total... so we really had great luck to find the lions along it O\/ O\/

The younger male in the coalition was a bit more awake than his buddy \O

Mr sleepy-head then woke up for a bit as well O/\

The younger chap was sporting quite a gash above his left eye just below the mane

Probably the best part of the sighting was that we were the only ones there! O\/ O\/
With only 11 chalets on the Nyathi side as well as the Riverbend Lodge accommodation, there weren't any other vehicles around :-0

The younger male eventually got up to move to some shade and so we took a few more pics before heading off into the main section of Addo with big grins on our faces. We figured we could pop back later in the evening to see if there was any further action \O

How lucky can you get?! Such a brilliant lion sighting all for yourselves :-0 Who were these two? Am a bit confused about you talking about an older and a younger chap. Thought all male coalitions were of the same age. Or did they introduce new guys to the party?

Leafed through your other photos that I have missed out on, too. Some great photos there! The ostrich photos, e.g. are really nice

Well I'm presuming one is a bit older than the other... noses tend to darken with age and the one still had quite a pink nose. News from Riverbend Lodge regarding the lions on that side has been scarce and they apparently don't like naming the lions so I'm really not sure now who these 2 are -O-

Yep pretty much all the lions across Addo are collared. Not sure of names for these 2, but the Nyathi section doesn't link directly to Kuzuko which is where Sylvester is located - fences and a mountain range in between \O

Once across to the main section of the park we spotted a meerkat clan along our private access road O/\

Image

There was some general game around, but nothing too much to write home about until we got down to the area where the lions had been spotted earlier in the day. Compared to our sighting on the Nyathi side it wasn't great 0*\ lol lol

Image

With all the traffic around and the lack of a view we didn't hang around for long. Back up at Woodlands dam there was a nice herd of elephants drinking O:V

Image

Image

With about an hour of daylight left we decided to head back to the Nyathi lions in the hope that they might become more active, but if anything they were more sound asleep than ever 0:

Image

Image

To kill a bit of time we drove up towards the camp and enjoyed watching the antics of a baboon troop

Image

This little one thought he was big stuff whilst taking a ride lol

Image

Image

Image

But once on the ground he clung desperately to mom =O:

Image

The lions were still playing dead when we visited them one last time... just a brief bit of eye contact to check us out

Image

Then it was back to camp with a vervet monkey at the side of the road along the way ^Q^
