Once again we came across more white winged widowbirds which could be found nearly everywhere in the park this year

Image

and finally we reached Biyamiti weir also one of our favourite places in that area.

Image

The water was still flowing more than nicely over the weir and consequently that attracted a lot of different bird species. A black stork was around,

Image

as well as a sandpiper taking a bath,

Image

Image

a grey heron allowed us some nice close ups,

Image

a hamerkop was busy in fishing

Image

and also a green backed heron finally appeared on the scene.

Image

Image

The grass and reeds were long this year and attracted a lot of red bishops which we also could find nearly everywhere throughout the park.

Image

This bird is always fascinating us anew and we could watch and observe them for hours. I simply love it when they display like that.

Image

Luckily for us it was trafficwise quiet and we already positioned our car that way that all the cars which might appear could pass easily and we do not need to change our position.

It was simply so much to see and photograph and so our cameras started to glow again

Image

The grey heron and the black stork

Image

posed as mad and so did the hamerkop

Image

and also an egret could be seen as well.

Image

It was a sunny and hot day but still bearable during the midday heat but the heron started already to pant

Image

Image

but somehow each bird was waiting for the fish.

Image

Image

After we got enough shots from the heron, stork, egret and hamerkop we concentrated again onto our red ones -

Image

the red bishops and it got more and more difficult to drag ourselves away from the weir as we saw that much and had such a great time there but finally we carried on.

Image

For sure we could not pass a large herd of impalas without stopping, taking pictures and

Image

simply enjoying the beauty of these antelopes.

Image

We noticed lots of dragonflies on rocks

Image

to be continued.....

The causeways are always spectacular if there is water of course ;-)

Also the red bishops are nice. They always look as if they are dressed too warmly with a hood and scarf of wool lol
