A big cat sighting first thing in the morning releases the tension and anticipation in my opinion. It makes me much more relaxed and the rest of the drive more enjoyable. You had a great start to the day with five star Lion and Jackal sightings, so you must have been very happy. I cant wait to hear what else you saw that day!

What a perfectly posed zebra mom and her dear 'lil one - looks like a portrait shot from a studio

The finch is glorious and the baboons are so entertaining and always pull at your heartstrings for one reason or another - poor baby. Guess she will learn that she's not the center of the Universe and extended family comes first.

I don't know what sighting and / or photo to pick... They are all really nice! I like all the birds
but the elephant shots are wonderful too. And then there are the lions, of course and that real
good sighting fo the jackals

Those lions seem to be hanging around near the H1-3/H6 intersection fairly often now.

Yes you are right and normally then it is much more easier to even find more cats - Although must say that catwise Satara was quiet this year to us

Thanks for popping in, Bushcraft The stream was not that deep as it originally looked but as said with a normal car I would not have crossed same

We stayed quite a while with them



and after we got quite a nice selection of shots we left them and carried on



not to forget the many zebras always hanging around that road



and although the grass was that high we again located a black bellied bustard



and for sure it took not that long until same started to shout.



Another nice surprise then was a namaqua dove which was in the mood for posing



as same is a bird which we in fact do not see that often



and further during our drive along this tar road we then came across a Wahlberg eagle



and a very well camouflaged juvenile bateleur.



Lots of white backed vultures and wildebeests could be seen as well



and overall that road brought us already various interesting sightings compared to the quiet day we had yesterday.

A lot of magpies were willing to pose,



uncountable brown raptors were spotted in that area this year extreme often and



we saw more giraffes in the distance and another beautiful Wahlberg eagle,



a group of resting impalas made us stop again



and a lone hyena was roaming in the area as well.



A short break at Nwanetsi picnic spot was meanwhile needed also to stretch the legs a bit. The drive along the S41 was quiet but at least we were greeted by a couple of feeding giraffes



and at Gudzani dam we arrived just in the right time to photograph excessively an African fish eagle and also the taking off shot worked this time as the eagle was willing to take off into the right direction.



Compared to last year the ponds where the causeways have to be crossed on this road were filled with water



and we noticed a lot of different birds taking a bath there. Behind all these causeways again the raptor avenue started so called by us as due to the nesting queleas so many different raptors were hanging around along the road.
