Heading south again, the only area I hadn't really tried in the morning was along the Addo heights road (the public road which intersects the park). We popped out the side exit gate and down the hill towards an area where you can see the back of Ngulube loop... and there our luck continued as we found Josie and the cubs with a warthog kill O/\ O/\

Fortunately they were a little bit closer this time - about 400m away - so H was very pleased to see them.

They weren't very active so we decided to do a loop back in the park to pass a bit of time and then come back to them a bit later when they would hopefully be active and possibly drink at a close waterhole.

The park was otherwise quiet again, but this gorgeous baby kudu had the kids excited

I felt very fortunate to find them - no-one else seemed to have found lion in the park that day!

We spent the evening back at the cubs watching them eat and play. There were a number of elephant in the area and they slowly meandered in the direction of the lions. Once or twice they chased the lions off into the bushes, but generally they were very tolerant of each other - I was surprised just how close Josie allowed them to get to her cubs at times.

For the first time ever we exited the east side of the park along the public road... one option to remember for future visits X#X

Yes - all the adult lions in the park are currently fitted with collars... which is a bit of a shame from a photographic perspective, but at least with the males you normally don't notice what with their big black manes O**

We tend to get most of our rain in spring. Or at least that's my theory. But this year has been quite strange - all through summer it never really got properly dry, with good rainfall every 3 or 4 weeks. This winter there have been more cold fronts than last year, bringing flooding to many areas in recent weeks. So there are certain areas of the park which often get a dry look over winter, but this year that hasn't happened. Maybe it's El Nino or his cousin playing tricks on us lol
