Marabous are really not the pretties of our feathered friends O**

So far I have never noticed that the carmine bee-eaters have a relatively long tail 0:
But lots of nice birds again anyways. And even if the story behind the kite is a bit sad,
the pictures are rather brilliant ;-)

Sometimes the long tail of the Carmine is not that clear visible - So although we do see them often I find it always fascinating X#X

This time they preferred to stay in the tree.

Image

We also saw kudus, more Carmine bee eaters and an elephant

Image

and then we had a great time in photographing the masses of red billed queleas

Image

Image

Image

in that area and as already mentioned they occurred through out the park in such an amount it was breathtaking to stop for them when hundreds of them flew over the road from right to left

Image

Image

only to stop later for more that flew from left to right and this continued in fact quite a couple of times.

Image

It was such a spectacle and we were so happy that we could photograph them when they rested in masses along the roadside on bushes.

More feeding giraffes could be seen as well

Image

Image

as well as bateleurs a bit too far away. Another funny sighting was a francolin mom who crossed in front of us the H6 with her only thumbnail big (as long as you speak from big here) chick, Mom realized our car and ran immediately into the bushes but forgot her mini me which simply hunched up on the road and if you did not know where to look for same was invisible but gladly we know where same was, switched the engine off and finally mom returned to her lost chick and collected same and both walked away.

Image

We still had to laugh during the further drive as it was so funny when mom walked straight into the bush for safety but forgot her chick. The clouds looked threatening but gladly it stay dry the rest of the day.

Image

More giraffes could be seen as well as lots of zebras

Image

and many groups of impalas

Image

Image

not to forget another elephant but compared to the masses of elephants we saw the previous day we only saw quite few that day.

Image

to be continued....

Your 'forgetful mother' looks like a Buttonquail, maybe a Kurrichane (pale eye)? -O-

A very funny story, and I also love the shots of the Queleas. \O

Hope you can get your TT finished before you have another one to start writing! =O: =O:
