Well the many road closures and that we could not visit our booked camps and had to change our bookings - Nobody can predict a flood in advance but we were hit hard by same - At least everything went well in the end O:V

A larger group had cuddled up together

Image

whilst others were still standing right on the road looking from here to there

Image

Image

whilst still others decided it was time for a short nap.

Image

Image

Due to the great number of dogs in that pack we had the whole time something to be seen although must say that we also had moments were we put our cameras away and simply enjoyed the dogs.

Image

Image

The dogs or better to say this one was not at all interested in us

Image

and whilst now only a few of them were running from one group to another most of them found a place to relax

Image

Image

Image

and we had such a fantastic time as from time to time there were always a dog willing to lift its head or even to stand up for a short time to pose for us.

On one side of the road the dogs enjoyed me time whilst on the other side of the road the larger group was lying

Image

whilst still others were active

Image

Image

or at least needed a stretch.

Image

Image

The whole rest of the time we stood at that sighting overall one hour no other cars either from the front nor from the back arrived so we had the dogs at that wonderful sighting all to ourselves indeed such a wonderful gift to say good bye and to compensate us for the quiet last full day we had yesterday. They even allowed us some close ups

Image

Image

before it was time for us to say good bye to them which we in fact did with a heavy heart.

Image

Image

We carried on and at the bridge across the Nkulumbeni we even met again the two cars who were standing there on the road side and were not interested in the wild dogs. For sure now we asked them what they were looking at and they bumbled something about a seldom bee eater they were looking for and same had been seen yesterday exactly here. Normally when it comes to birds we are always the last ones to leave them behind but as no birds were present we drove on as on top the cars waited already more than an hour.

So we continued and after a while we noticed a couple of giraffes surrounded by thick vegetation and with grey clouds in the background which in fact did not look good at all.

Image

Not far from the giraffes we noticed something white flying from here to there and after that white fluff came to a standstill we luckily noticed another magpie shrike completely white

Image

funny was that already a couple of years ago we saw such a white magpie already at the Babalala picnic spot and we were happy that we could see another one today.

Image

to be continued with the very last installment………………..

Sure, all the camp changes 0*\ I'd forgotten about those :o0ps: There were whole areas, that you could not visit (0!)

Exceptional doggie encounter and all by yourselves ^Q^ ^Q^ It's funny how some animals sleep almost on top of each other. It might be for safety reasons, but wild dogs and lions do not have many natural enemies :-?

The white magpie shrike is certainly not an everyday sighting

Totally right the areas around Croc bridge as well as Lower Sabie could not be visited by us at least it got better the more North we drove O/\

Completely right - The North is totally underrated as we so far could not complain about the sightings we had that far North and most of the time it can be that the sighting is all to yourself ;-)
