The drought was more than scary in that area

At least the first puddle looks not like a waterhole

A bit further down we noticed a couple of light brown spots in the distance – a quite large pride of lions and after looking a bit carefully around we saw as well a couple of cubs
and a couple of daddies under some bushes. All members of the pride were lying wide spread but all of them were indeed far too far away for some decent shots. At least we were once again happy that we saw them but we had a reunion with all of them again only two days later....
After a while we carried on and met more giraffes
and for sure impalas and then it was time to turn into the S90
where we spotted a black-backed jackal who just caught something and was now busy in chewing on something which looked like some sort of rodent.
Same chewed on the poor creature with pleasure

and after same had nearly finished its snack same started to look around.
For us this section of the S90 is always a great jackal spot and so it was today as it did not take long until we spotted another one and even more.
We carried on and came across some resting zebras
and some steenbokies which we also do meet quite regular here.
The rest of the road was then extreme quiet and only along the tar road back to Satara we met some more than cute piglets
plus mom trying to find something substantial to eat between all the sand and stones.
A cute sleeping smaller hyaena made us stop again and for sure nobody could resist in taking a couple of shots from that gorgeous creature.
At Satara we made only a very short break as it was still far too early to already return to our bungalow and whilst I was about to buy the daily ice cream Timon armed his camera and tried to capture a woodpecker in camp.
When it came to the question which way to drive we decided to give the H6 another try although we never had that luck on that road whilst staying at Satara as the other roads offered far more to us.
We stopped for more kudus along that road
and for a couple of giraffes feeding on some leaves.
We admired a beautiful tawny eagle a bit farer away in a tree and captured a brown snake eagle
to be continued....

Nice jackals
The lions look as if they have been feasting. I presume that the dark shadows on the faces is blood

Nice, Pumbaa! Interesting the jackal even making a kill!
Dzombo is doing a flavour about the H6, ironically!

The jackal and hyena posed nicely for you and the piglets are so cute!
