Thanks for commenting here Nan, Lis, RP & Flutt's. \O X#X

Nan - all part of being a prey species I guess. The wary ones survive. \O

Lis - Agree. The antelope are at least doing something interesting most of the time. \O

RP - I won't mention your spelling. ;-) A kudu at a mineral lick as well. O/\

Flutt's - Ever since the kids started coming on trips, I look more closely at the commoner animals and always find something different happening with them. \O

Some music required with the next episode I think. Headphones on everyone......

As we crossed over the river to one of the islands, a strange apparition was seen heading straight for us.

Cue the music....

Image

An elephant was making its way from the mainland to the nearest island in search of fresh grass to eat. Blowing bubbles as it approached.

Image

It seemed interested in checking our boat out, but did look ominous from this angle.

Image

Using his trunk as both a snorkel and to scent his way forward in the right direction.

Image

He angled towards us for a better look.

Image

He swam alongside the boat without a care in the World.

Image

But the smell of sweet, fresh grass was of more interest to him than our boat, so he continued on by.

Image

Giving us a quick once over as he went on his way.

Image

What a privelige to be so close to a swimming elephant who came over to check us out.

Great sequence and it is interesting to see how elephants adapt to the place they live in ^Q^ ^Q^

But I do prefer this one:
