Porcupine

Porcupine!

...and many other good sightings. Glad you had such a productive night drive.

We did many night drives in Kruger and never saw a porcupine. Thanks for sharing those great pics.

Porcupine indeed! Never seen one in Kruger, Pumbaa!

Looks like a lot of insects flying around the lights there at night!

That porcupine sighting was indeed amazing for us always an animal we so much wanted to see on a night drive and the luck was with us that evening

The hyena we met already the days before appeared again



as well as one of the many brown raptors



and for sure the black bellied bustard was first shouting again



and then started to hide and kept silent – very unusual for that bird indeed.



Next come across a couple of kudus out of which



the ladies were really beauty queens



and made their way through the bush very cautious.



It was again an extreme quiet morning but we met even more brown raptors



and paid already a very final visit to N’wanetsi picnic shot and we even walked up to the view point this time. It kept quiet during our drive along the S41 but we spotted a very noisy brown headed parrot



a lark,



a red billed quelea invasion took place on the ground



and suddenly also in the air and it was simply amazing to observe such spectacle

not to forget the spectacle the woodland kingfisher made



who was also in the mood to pose for us and even came much closer.





The wildebeest were still lazy that morning



although the impalas were on the run and nearly invisible in the high grass.



We came across white backed vultures,



lots of yellow billed hornbills



and one was busy in swallowing its kill,



zebras and an amazing number of Carmine bee eaters





and then we were already far too early back in camp for only a short break and left in no minute again into the direction of Nsemani dam where we met quite a number of Egyptian goose.
