We also don't use it but I can see the value in it for reporting injured animals.

The only spin off is that they Keep the crowds far away from where I go ..I still cant get my head around the fact that people prefer to let other people find stuff for them and cause all sorts of Environmental problems ..Injured animals caused by HUMANS ..should be reported to one of the 22 Section rangers in the park

My Sightings App Device is the latest and most rewarding of all Apps designed so far ..Sitting at the lonely windmill on the Tropic of Capricorn Loop one day last month way out of range of any signal which is brilliant as my Sightings App Device doesnt need signal and is extremely interactive. I saw a huge cloud of smoke coming from over the horizon estimated at about 4 kms ? I then raised my Sightings App Device (Swarovski 10x42 Binos) to my eyes and the Sightings App device corrected me and informed me instantly without access to a signal that it was in fact a huge cloud of dust ....and Buffalo could be the cause. The App Device then fine tuned its findings quickly and informed me that the Dust cloud was moving in my direction and expected time of arrival would be about 25 mins . Its an old device so it was a bit out as arrival eventually turned out to be 20 mins...Thirsty Buff!!! I then drew an imaginary line from the cloud of dust to the windmill and positioned myself at the end of a very wide Elephant made game Path without the need to consult my Sightings App Device and switched off and waited. This is what eventually came out of the Dust at 40 metres visibility from my bakkie . They were obviously tired and thirsty and I was in their way ..So after 2 quick pics I moved on to allow them to cross and drink..Wildlife ethics 101. I cant Manage without my Swaro Sightings App Device . I feel so sorry for the Signal dependant users of IPhones whose devices would never have identified smoke as Dust lol lol lol

I can see why people like sharing their sightings. Some very interesting video clips have been uploaded.
And it seems posts are regularly reposted on this forum

But imo, there should be a 2 or 3 hour delay between upload, and when the sighting is visible on the app/website.
That would hopefully reduce the incidence of people chasing sightings.
