I can see why people like sharing their sightings. Some very interesting video clips have been uploaded.
And it seems posts are regularly reposted on this forum
But imo, there should be a 2 or 3 hour delay between upload, and when the sighting is visible on the app/website.
That would hopefully reduce the incidence of people chasing sightings.
..It should be completely banned and the owner should get useful gainful employment

Why?
I would like to think my idea is some sort of compromise between those who feel that the app is causing chaos at sightings, and those who have some interesting photos/videos that are worth while seeing?

I should add. I have never used the app in Kruger. Don't believe in chasing other people's sightings.
But on our dark winter evenings I sometimes trawl the website watching the videos, reading the stories, and longing for Kruger

Peter, you cannot expect everybody to be as much of an "Old fashioned Purist" as you are. It will not stop the trend that today's life is heading towards....unfortunately

I guess so ..but I would far rather do it my way instead of hairing around looking for Traffic Snarl ups to see stuff ...I have had 2 week stays in Kruger and not seen a Cat of any sort ..but I had the windows down and I smelt the bush and didnt have to find a place to charge a phone etc during my stay

Just forget about the others and do your thing as you prefer in Kruger. Luckily it is still possible judging from your last trip

I agree with Dzombo.

I enjoy seeing other peoples' sightings, but don't want to chase after them. I think a delay before uploading is a very good idea.

They will never agree to that though

If you are not close to a camp there is no signal anyway, so there would be some delay by default.

Very funny app idea, Peter!
Ja, odie is an old AW member, you know, and he followed his dream and did a clever thing. There are always two sides to a story. Flutts and Dzombs make good points. Cellphone reception is actually not all that extensive in Kruger, so the vast majority of the area is unaffected, and there will be many hours delay as some only post their sightings once possible.
Latestsightings helped us to see the baby jackals at Satara yesterday, because we found the adults and I vaguely remembered a sighting mention of the pups from last week, so we looked more carefully!
