Braaiing and Recipes

I have found a supplier that does SA wood.
£16 for a 20kg bag.
Rough guestimate - how many braais would I get out of that (just trying to cost it in my mind)

Hmmmm...... quite interesting this By comparison , braaiwood sold here in Supermarkets is around R30 - R35 ( say 2 pounds ) for a 10 kg bag , or alternatively , you can buy a bakkie-load of 1000 pieces at R750 .
And meat from R100 to R140 per kg .( Unless you buy a whole lamb's carcass directly from the abbatoir - around R70 per kg ) .

I suppose shipping factors quite a lot into it, since it's heavy?

The Olive works out to a similar cost.

So I have finally heard back from the company that imports the Kameeldoring.

It gets fumigated with Methyl Bromide.
My research tells me that this is used extensively in fruit, vegetable and many other foodstuffs when it is exported around the world.
Probably including the peaches that my SO loves.
Also apparently heat breaks it down.

Although the Olive may be healthier
I do prefer the Kameel (from the tester bag I bought a few weeks ago)
Have just ordered 10 x 20kg bags of it. A friend of mine will take 2 of those. That leaves me with 160kg. Enough to last a year or two.

Don't know why the bag says 17kg. It's 20kg - I weighed 2 to check

I am having some friends over for a braai tomorrow evening.
