The Swiss tourist who was injured when a giraffe fell onto his vehicle in the Kruger National Park has been taken to a Johannesburg hospital, where he is in a critical condition.

SA National Parks (SANParks) spokesman Ike Phaahla said on Monday: “The last update was that he was still in a critical condition and that he had been transferred.”

The 18-foot-tall giraffe was killed by the double impact of the crash. South African police are trying to establish why the minibus, which was transferring 13 tourists to a game lodge, collided with the giraffe.

The kind of taxi phenomena that you have in SA is unknown in Europe. A taxi is a clean decent big car, mostly Mercedes, with room for max. 4 persons, who move together to their destination. It is also expensive.
