Making LBJ identification simpler presentation by Doug Newman - Kirstenbosch Wednesday Talk
21.04.2021

Join Doug as he describes a unique method of identifying and distinguishing the cryptic little birds known as ‘little brown jobs’. His technique presents a three-step process, progressing through successive sorting stages, each of which moves closer to identification of the bird in question. Find out how his recent new edition of 'LBJs Made Simple' can change your life when it comes to identifying these birds.

Doug Newman, an electrical engineer by trade, is an avid and active sound recordist with a keen interest in birds, particularly their calls. He is author of Bird Calls for Beginners, More Bird Calls for Beginners and 500 Common Bird Calls in Southern Africa, co-author of Southern African Mammals made simple and co-founder of the Simply Birding website www.simplybirding.com.

My copy of this book was waiting for me when I got home.
It's very good.

Every bird has a bar code that is linked to an app.
So you download the app onto your phone.
And then scan the barcode.
For every species, the author talks about the bird. And you can play the call.

All very clever

Mine is something more old fashioned. I did think it was strange to find an ad for an old book O**
