Last week travelling towards Shingwedzi close to the nearest escape route to Nkulumbeni .. see the height of the FLOOD DEBRIS ?
At the height of the flood the water must have been at least 2metres deep at this point .

My favourite road around Shingwedzi/Sirheni...This pic was taken on the S57 coming from the main tar road after I had spent another early morning with the Boyela lions ... The S57 goes right over the S 56 straight onto Sirheni and the Mopani Schrubland is FULL of rare antelope like the Roan here ..Love that area

From Moggiedog 2012:
(Photo Jillinflorida)
it was along the 556 roughly halfway between Shingwedzi and Sirheni. We have always been lucky with leopard on this stetch. It was on the 556 we saw the leopard with her cub on a kill in a tree - shoooooooo - that was a mouthful. When I saw this leopard I couldn't help wondering if it was the cub we saw with its mother a few years ago.
This pic was taken in the same area a couple of years ago.

This morning we drove the Mphongolo Loop (S56) but found that the most southern section was closed for road works so on the way to the next access road (a road without a number simply labelled "Loop") we detoured onto the short S53 loop and found a nice scenic spot.
And yet another Burchell's Coucal.
A Dagga Boy was hogging the road.
This is one of the most scenic drives in the entire Park but as usual, animal sightings were few and far between.
We did get lucky with a band of Banded Mongooses. I think there is a den in the area as we saw them in the same place the following day.
Otherwise it was pretty much scenery
At Babalalalala we stopped for Coffee and found a few subjects.
A Cape Dwarf Gecko(?).
A Magpie Shrike.
And a Banana bird.
