The lady was driving...for foreign viewers, the driver sits on the right-hand side in SA...nothing against female drivers, but she's a foreigner, maybe her first trip? Who knows?
Just another piece of a very unfortunate puzzle.
In the greater scheme of things, maybe the ellie died for a good cause, in a sense, to illustrate what can happen?

To me it looks as if they could even have gone forward and leave the scene altogether?

Not joking...
The message should get through to tourists via social media?

I continue to think... it will be better to have a lesson the first time we enter in a park... foreigners or not... for all the new visitors
they don't know how violent wild animals could be... and then they have to kill them

As RP said , he did his best in trying to chase them away . He may have been in musth , as appears when you look very closely , but he does not seem " enraged " , at least not from the start

Thanks okie and agreed
I have had hundreds of ellies turn and give these signs, but have always reversed and left them in peace. Imagine if SANParks shot all of those.
Sad

Yes, but then make an example of the people in the car doing wrong, instead of using the death of an innocent Elephant to spread the word!

I'm sort of trying to say the ellie didn't die in vain, Sprocks!

Hmmm .... Not sure about that RP . We've seen 6 or 7 incidents ( or more ? ) with KNP ellies in 2013 , and this is the only one where someone ended up in hospital . If we do not see ANY incidents this year , then maybe it could mean that people had learnt something out of it at last , but , until we have hard and fast proof that people have indeed learnt , we cannot say he did not die in vain
Let's hope however , things do not get worse this year (
but I'm not holding my breath on that
