Booty-shaking ostriches mating is the weirdest thing you'll see today

One of nature's most unique and beautiful rituals, a male ostrich wooing a female before mating.

The eager male ostrich performs a spectacular dance to please the ladies. He usually eyes the dominant female of the flock, who gets to pick and choose her male suitor.

It is not often that a tour group stumbles upon this performance, but a lucky group of tourists witnessed the act first-hand.

Rina van Heerden caught this rare sighting on film during a visit to Mabalingwe during an early morning game drive.

Imagine her surprise when a male ostrich arrives on the scene and starts a peculiar dance. His fancy footwork is not just for fun - he has a goal.

After fluffing and flapping his remarkable feathers, he elegantly cha-chas towards his admirer, who has signalled that she is ready.

The rest is history.

Someone witnessing this ostrich mating ritual for the first time, might be caught off guard. What seems like an innocent dance, quickly evolves, and just as quickly, the male gets up and moves along.
