Africa time does not apply to corruption and making money - unfortunatly
I would feel more optimistic of a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority - EB White

Re: Controversial rezoning approved
I woke up this morning with a migraine and a 101 questions. The general public in SA and the Western Noses need way more information. The information coming through is limited, vague, and differs from interview to interview.
And that scares me even more!
And that scares me even more!

Actually, there is no information at all! All that has been publiced is the answer from the Minister to a question in Parliament
It is not even a press release.
Are we playing "hide and seek" again??
No public information, no public discussion, no public nothing!!!! .......and what are they doing? They are stealing a two kilometres perimetre of National Park without even asking for the permission of the stakeholder, the South African population, that's what they are doing

From Sanparks forum today:

Please see below a message sent on behalf of Mr. Reynold "Rey" Thakhuli on the issue of the PDZ in KNP.
The SANParks web forum has been a buzz in the last few days following an announcement by the Environmental Minister on her approval of the Peripheral Development Zone (PDZ) for the Kruger National Park. It has to be noted that the announcement came as results of a Parliamentary question for the Minister during her budget speech debate.
It is against this background that SANParks will have to wait for an official message from the Department before any pronouncements can be made. We trust that this communique will reach you in good order.
Best regards,
Reynold "Rey" Thakhuli

Re: Controversial rezoning approved
Beeld published an article today quoting the Minister as stating that Hotel construction would begin in January, and a lot of well-known sentiments about the requirement for job-creation, the support of the neighbouring communities, and the quote about visitors not all wishing to "bring a trolley of groceries" made by the Doctor a while ago. Very strange!
The EIA company denies this development.
Also, there were no replies issued in Parliament either on Monday or yesterday, as claimed by Citizen and Beeld, as they are mostly busy with budgets, according to one MP...
Curioser and curioser! Am waiting for more!

Also read the article in Beeld today and according to the minister she has the vote of 3 million people to go ahead with the development to employ on 600 people. Most of the people employed by the hotel will require certain skill so if you work on 100 people from the local community the % of the 70 % unemployed will only be 0.005 %. That will be a great economic relieve to the community for sure. .
And who is going to make use of these hotels at R1500 per person or R4500 per family of 3. Not us, so I will be packing my grocery cupboard and tent for the price of 1 night and enjoy at least 2 weeks in Kruger, that is if I can still find evidence of nature in Kruger a few years from now.
MacDonalds, KFC and Wimpey will make it easier for our campers to leave the groceries behind and enjoy watching Animal Planet on the DSTV if we could not see much around KNP. Just remember another essential camping equipment for the future. This dish.
