You do wonders with those creepy crawlies, fireworks and not ;-) I have never noticed grasshoppers like yours and the yellow fly is spectacular  Makes we wonder how many things I do not notice :-? Not to talk about the different flies. Never heard about a fly that scavenges   ^Q^ ^Q^ \O

0/* RP - forgot to answer the eland question - we were going from Punda Maria to Letaba, so was in the northern portion. Sorry I can't be more specific. I didn't keep a travel diary this time, so am rather vague.

Besides, he's probably not still there… ;-)

nan - I hope you prefer the next entries more than the flies O0
Sis - I'm not sure what you meant, but I think most flies scavenge (rummage through refuse/garbage looking for food)
Thanks, Pumbaa 0/0

HERONS

This series was taken at Lake Panic Hide. I had certainly seen the "daytime - nighttime" bird on TV, but had no idea it was present in Kruger (not being a birder). Everyone in the hide was chuckling and the children there were especially excited to see it "doing its thing". Lighting was less than desirable, and he only performed the maneuver a couple times in the open, but it was a memorable sighting for all. O/\
