Thanks everyone for all the comments \O

June 7 cont: What follows is for viewers with no jealousy problems only

After watching the lions for a while, it seemed as if they were settling down for the morning, and by now the Mata Mata cars had started to arrive, so decided to carry on south.

Just past Craig Lockhart a car had stopped on the side of the road. :-? :-?

As we approached I saw two spotted cats on the right hand side.

" Cheetah", I said to Debbie, but as we got closer we realised that we were looking at two leopards. WOW

Image

Image

We were ecstatic. The cats, which we thought to be a mother and cub, paraded beautifully for us

Image

Image

Image

Before the one climbed up into a nearby tree

Image

Soon to be followed by the other

Image

What more can I say

to be continued......

A tail to the right and then there was only one leopard left in the tree

Image

She looked really pretty in the dappled morning shade

Image

The young male leopard moved off towards the road

Image

Image

And started stalking a black backed jackal which was sitting in the riverbed

Image

Image

Image

The object of his attention

Image

Image

Meanwhile the slightly older female was moving along parallel to the road
Where to look O** -O-

Image

The jackal spotted him and the game was over

Image

They both then disappeared in different directions the female over the dunes to the west and the little male over onto the other side of the riverbed
We stuck around for a while trying to catch another glimpse of either cat, but eventually gave up as we needed to get back to KTC in order to vacate our chalet by am

Later that day:

After the leopard sighting we didn’t see too much as we returned to KTC and after packing up and collecting the trailer, we moved the 3 kilometres to Mata Mata

Luckily we found quite a nice spot to set up camp, just off the fence, near the hide

Image

We then had a chance for a bit of R&R before going out again

Image

As well as to take a walk around the camp, where we spotted this cardinal woodpecker

Image

We set out at about 3pm for our afternoon drive
The usual suspects were at Sitsas

Image

And on the way down south we spotted this Verreaux Eagle Owl

Image

Image

This Rock Kestrell near Dalkieth

Image

And at Dalkieth, a couple of giraffe

Image

Image

Image

As we drove around the loop at 14th Borehole we found two lionesses lying virtually in the road.

They weren’t going anywhere and after a while, (and a lot of photographs), we needed to start our return to camp.
An amazing day in the Kgalagadi ended with another stunning sunset that evening
