An AW member reports Wednesday that the walkway is FINALLY being rebuilt!

However she is quite technically minded re. her business and feels that the threaded bar rods being used for the poles are way too thin (6-8mm) where 10 is the absolute minimum. Also some of the old poles are being re-used, while standard practice should be for the tender-winner-contractor to quote for a total replacement and take away the remains.

The new poles are also being painted with creosote while lying on the brand-new floor planking, and those stains will never be able to be removed.

She also checked the railings at the restaurant itself on the upper deck and feels that they need urgent care and are unsafe.

It will last until the next accident

I wonder if they only look at the price when they choose the enterprise

Tenders have nothing to do with price in SA...rather connections and demographics etc!

Why do they do a tender then? Because the law says that there must be one

It is really time to start from zero in SA or send the Honorary Rangers to clean up all the filth
