Yes always great to see amur falcons as they often are only hanging around sporadically when we are in the park X#X

Today we not only used the toilet at N’wanetsi picnic spot but even walked up to the view point which was not worthwhile the previous due to the rainy weather and for sure the dam below was full and we simply enjoyed the view and the beautiful trees

Image

Image

and where are rocks also a lot of lizards were around as well taking a sunbath in the lovely sun.

Image

In the distance waterbucks and impalas could be seen as well and they enjoyed also the peaceful morning.

Image

We indeed stayed quite a while there and during our walk down we even discovered more lizards

Image

Image

and at the picnic spot a couple of white browed scrub robins.

Image

Then also a visit at Sweni bird hide was a must an earlier visit made no sense the previous days due to the rain and the road closure and today with the sunshine we had the best weather to make most out of it but on our way to same we came across a great number of giraffes

and between their long legs

Image

we even spotted zebras

Image

as well as impalas en masse.

Image

We have never seen the dam at Sweni bird hide that full which was a fantastic sighting

Image

and we soon scanned the area and discovered a yellow billed stork not far from a sunbathing crocodile

Image

and a group of hippos out of which a hippo mum plus her little one stood out.

Image

Opposite the hide in a dense root system we spotted on the second view a green backed heron on its nest

Image

and then the hippo mom and her little one put up a show

Image

as they were busy in a contest of getting the mouth as wide open as possible

Image

and we simply enjoyed their presence and were very much entertained.

Image

to be continued……
