Not something we've seen too often \O \O

Lovely scenery as ordered, AND squirrel for Lis!

The gemsbok babies look so funny with their masks! lol

And oxpeckers indeed, Peej! \O

Is there drought there too? :-?

0()
Very much a drought RP. The main dam in the park (Doornhoek) was quite a shock at how low it was

Thank you for the scenery shots although it really looks very barren and dry AND for the squirrel 0/0 \O

The gemsbok calves are very pretty.

You must have seen almost all the animals living there O:V ^Q^ ^Q^ Not many birds there?
Squirrel indeed! We did see quite a lot of birds but a lot of them are small and trying to catch pics of them flitting between bushes is a mission 0:
Mel wrote: Tue Dec 10, 2019 7:03 pm Those gemsbok youngsters are totally adorable :-0

Juriesdam and Sonnenrust are our preferred 4x4. Juries offered that not to be named sighting,
my first one ever and I love the landscape of Sonnenrust. Kranskop is beautiful too, but there
are stretches where my vertigo sets in and I have to shut my eyes firmly. Luckily, I'm the photographer
not the driver =O:
Interesting... we prefer the Umgeni 4x4 as we've had many good sightings there over the years. Sonnenrust really is a long one and can seem empty for vast periods, whilst we just haven't had a huge amount of sightings luck on Juriesdam -O-
Pumbaa wrote: Tue Dec 10, 2019 11:14 pm The scenic shots are stunning, PJL,

and again a lot of bokkies - Now I love the gemsbok youngster \O
Thanks Pumbaa... nice to see the youngsters. Must be the time of year

Continuing along the Sonnenrust trail, we found some Mountain Zebra posing nicely with some mountains lol

Near the end of the trail there's a nice lookout point. The warning about lions seemed sensible, but quite where the 20+ lions were hiding we had no idea as we had traversed the entire park with not a sign of them, so we felt quite at ease getting out the car to enjoy the view ;-)

Image

At the end of the trail there's one last ground squirrel den site which makes for nice pics if they're around as it's a bit elevated. Here you go Lis O0

Image

Rounding off the day we got a nice sighting again of the bat-eared foxes at the den site on the link road... this time in perfect evening light O\/ O\/

It had been a good day for sightings even if the cats had eluded us. One special event during the day was bumping into this O/\ O/\ O/\

What a quality sighting of the blackie :-0

Same goes for the BEFs \O , and I love that squirrel as well. ^Q^

I think, we like Juriesdam because we had an excellent sighting there and Sonnenrust can be all the vast for us as possible -
reminds of of the KTP lol

Yep all the 'known' rhinos have those for ID purposes. I once came across one in another park which does the same thing with no notches at all which was really exciting. The section ranger was amazed they'd not ever come across him!

Thanks Mel, the vastness is nice I must admit... but sometimes the kids demand more than empty space O** =O: =O:
