At the Sweni bridge, there were two different sightings. First up was this saddle-billed stork that walked up onto the road and then stood in the road and spread its wings, unconcerned by the cars.

I've never seen this behaviour before.



The stork stayed in the road for a while and then walked back into the bush.

We could then move onto the sighting on the other side of the bridge, which was two sleepy lionesses.

Also saddle-billed storks have some among them It's a beautiful bird though

All the lions we saw were sleeping!

We carried on to Satara but it was too early to check in. While looking at the sightings board someone told us that they heard there were lions and a leopard on a kill on the H1-4, not too far from camp, so we decided to check it out.

We didn't have any distance markers, we just knew they were seen somewhere between the S90 and S127 intersections. About 11 kms from camp, we saw some cars parked on a bridge over a small stream. We had a look in the trees and found the kill, but no leopard. We heard that the leopard was still around but had been gone for a while, and that the lions were about 2kms further on, so we decided to go and take a look at them, and would check on the leopard on the way back. There were about 6 lions lying very flat in the shade of some trees.



Two of them had collars on.

It was now very hot and the lions weren't moving so we decided to go back to the leopard kill. There was still no sign of the leopard either so we headed back to Satara and checked into our perimeter unit.


Deciding on our afternoon route was easy...back to find the leopard! On the way this Wahlberg's posed nicely for us.


There was still no sign of the leopard, so it was back to the lions, who were also still very flat!

We left the lions to their siesta and went back to the leopard. There were a lot of cars so we assumed it was back. We looked through the binos at the kill but still couldn't see it. Suddenly the Brat saw it in the tree behind the one with the kill!
