Interesting snippet from yesterday's Lowvelder, Mr Zambatis, who is retiring, says there will be no controlled burns in Kruger this year, understandably!

Hmmmmm but the drought we are currently experiencing was already being spoken about globally 3 years ago and yet there were large blocks burned in and around Kruger where there is now absolutely zero chance of any coverage of grass till possibly after the next rains. If there is widespread discussion about a given fact why did this burning go ahead????

Re your considerations Penny, Sanparks has never been very good at looking ahead when it comes to conservation
Moreover this burning "thing" seems not to be considered the way to go any more by the people in the know

Controlled burns found near Lower Sabie on Saturday by member sherrylbierman...don't know if that is good by SP yet after the drought?
