It's quite clear that the whole issue of the sightingsapp has been left out and that SANParks does not know how to handle this modern tool. I think we should continue to provide off the grid answers and assist in keeping the parks accessable and pure as possible.

Some time ago there was a lot of discussions on the subject of the sightings app and also on the OSV radios, but little by little it seems to have been forgotten. As it is one of the causes for the excess of traffic as you rightly underline and one of the things that COULD be changed, it should definitely be brought to the "Headlines" again. The problem as usual is how to make Sanparks part of this discussion? We also have the problem of too many day visitors etc.
I also like your idea of simple picnic sites, where there are none for long distances
HOW CAN WE MAKE SANPARKS LISTEN TO THE ADVICE OF THEIR MOST FAITHFUL VISITORS??????

The sightings app was thoroughly discussed in our meeting!!
Fact remains that it was a contentious issue, Sanparks reserving
the rights on home ground!! It would seem quite normal that they
exclude this sore point in the survey for they wish to put this practice
too own good use!! Yes indeed quite typical for a custodian sitting on
a gold mine and not really knowing how to delve in the pit of richness!!
Be aware folks, the outcome of these studies will be for your own
disappointment a subtle ploy, orchestrated by Sanparks!!
You have all become part and parcel of a ten year management plan,
without even knowing!!!

We did know, H.e., at least some of us did, but not much that we could do about it. I read the whole thing from A to Z and did not like most of it one bit

The apps were mentioned quite a bit at the Nelspruit meeting, if I recall, with same opinions. I noted that they are valuable indeed to those that cannot be in the Park and get their daily bush fix via them, especially foreigners!
