Mel wrote: Thu May 03, 2018 8:16 am Oh, those happy times when Hanri still had more than one cub. Wonder how she's coping these days. Hope she manages to keep the last one alive at least...

Great sightings with the jackal family, the cat in the tree, the fox, the owls and birds anyways ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^

Btw, I do my mash properly in the KTP. I even take the utentsil with me because in earlier years I had to mash with a fork which took me forever and a day. But I think the washed potatoes from PnP are perfect mash material \O (And I had wonder how posh you had gone, filling the mash into a glass bowl instead of setting the pot on the table =O: )
thank you :-)
Hanri with 3 cubs 0/0 we don't have news about the last one O-/
It was a so great pleasur to folow every morning and evenig the Jakals family
Kgalagadi never disapoint me, always something.... big not so often, but small and tiny ;-)
The potatoes ww got was not so good... like you say good for masch... those I brought from Switzerland are very easy, boilled water on the flakes (all included, even milk), just turn twice with a spoon, a small piece of butter... and done \O

I wake up at dawn, two Lions have invested the water point, it seems well fed, the hunt must have been good this night. They go sleeping for a while in the sun and disappear behind the thickets.
Then a Burchell's Starling makes an appearance, too rare appearance. It is a very beautiful bird. Namaquas Sandrouses arrive en masse and the Jackals are ready. It becomes a sport to catch some for lunch. It's also commun in Cubije Quap. There is lot of people at the hide.

I leave with regret this pleasant bungalow, with direct view on the waterhole, with a large dining room, beautiful bedroom with aircon and especially a beautiful terrace.
I hope to find a so nice when we return.

En route to to Grootlkok, we find a pale form of a TawnyEagle, Secretaries and Vultures, and a Bateleur Eagle. Lijersdraai waterhole is closed, I still try a glance, scan all the trees and bushes around, no Safan. In Lijersdraai picnic site there is a dead Jackal ... the work of Safran ??? or Rosa ???

A Honey Badger escape us... as fast as a lightning ....grgrgr, only Liz got a shadow 0()

We arrive in Grootkolk where Franco welcomes us and allocate us the cottage No. 3.
Nice cottage, identical to the others, who take the water in case of heavy rains, tropical rains but they must all be renovated in December, with among others with an electric fridge, until then gas.
This may give us the opportunity to recharge our batteries :-? no sure lol

A flock (my word) of Wildebeests greets us, we tidy our stuff, we will be there for 4 nights, the maximum I managed to get .... (plus 2 nights a little later). Places are "expensive" in this small unfenced camp 0'
Franco is really happy to see me again, so do I. One of the best park "tenant", in my opinion, with Jacques obviously, Willem the chief and Eric \O

We're lucky, a Lion makes an appearance, drinks and goes sleeping in the sun for a few moments. During this time the birds take advantage of the containers that I filled, just like the Yellow Mongooses, they are four, come in turns and even a few times come three together.
Then a Kudu, a Lizard and a Grasshopper whose name I do not even know 0*\
