There are wet and dry season forms.

There are "constant" revisions of Lepidoptera, so I would need to do more delving to see if it is now listed as genus Heteropsis (previously Henotesia, but later that was revised to being a subgenus of Heteropsis), or Brakefieldia. Don't know the current research....maybe Klippie can find the answer faster than me. (What a genius that one . )

It seems to be, indeed.
Based on this observation it should be a member of the Lasoicampinae.
Still can't find anything closer to species-level yet.

I hope someone can help with this mantis. Observed in the northern Kruger near Lanner Gorge at the lodge 'The Outpost'. Date of sightings 6 and 7 February 2023.
