Common names: Eyed bush brown; Swamp (or Marsh) patroller
Satyrinae
There are wet and dry season forms.
There are "constant" revisions of Lepidoptera,

so I would need to do more delving to see if it is now listed as genus
Heteropsis (previously
Henotesia, but later that was revised to being a subgenus of
Heteropsis), or
Brakefieldia. Don't know the current research....maybe Klippie can find the answer faster than me. (What a genius that one

. )
But that's it for starters...

You get 3 look-alikes in the area:
Squinting Bush Brown (Bicyclus anynana)
Common Bush Brown (Bicyclus safitza)
Marsh Patroller (Brakefieldia perspicua)
You have two different ones

It seems to be, indeed.
Based on
this observation it should be a member of the Lasoicampinae.
Still can't find anything closer to species-level yet.

I hope someone can help with this mantis. Observed in the northern Kruger near Lanner Gorge at the lodge 'The Outpost'. Date of sightings 6 and 7 February 2023.
