Lovely to watch without feeling the heat... lol

Never thought there would be Klipspringers at the hide... ..0..

Love the spoonbills together. [InLuv]

Saturday, 21. February 2020 – Mopani - Shingwedzi

Driven roads: H1-6 – S142 – S50 – S143 – S50 – S135 – H1-7 – S55 – H1-6 – S135 – Confluence – H1-6

First stop in the morning was then for sure at our beloved Shipandani causeway and honestly I did not expect to see already that much birds there that early but I was totally wrong as the best places had already been taken especially by the crocodiles

Image

who then started to clear the causeway already despite we neared the causeway with our car definitely carefully.

Image

The yellow billed stork did not bother at all as same was already busy in catching breakfast but must say that we did not stay long as it was still a long way to drive so we continued our way

Image

and next stop was then at Mooiplaas waterhole which was unfortunately deserted and when we were about to continue as discovered a couple of black backed jackals in the high grass

Image

who were frolicking around carefreely

Image

whilst we had been watched carefully.

Image

We tried to continue whilst the jackals were out of sight but many of the mopani bushes along that road were occupied by amur falcons which simply had to be photographed.

Image

Some were sharing their bush

Image

whilst others had their own one

Image

and we were happy that we could capture that many of them as this is one of our favourite raptors.

Image

Next stop was then at Nshawu 4 were we discovered another jackal

Image

who posed extreme nicely for us

and watched attentively in the distance,

Image

snuffled around and again turned around to us

Image

obviously discovered something between the high grass and far too soon disappeared in the high grass.

Image

To our delight we again detected at least one of the two fish eagles in the dead tree we already saw yesterday

Image

and a bit farer away we also noticed a smaller herd of elephants.

Image

Although the S50 was our road to drive a short detour to Tihongonyeni is always a must for us and we also discovered a red crested korhaan in the not that high grass

Image

as otherwise we would have never noticed same.

Image

As always a lot of zebras and wildebeests were around and some were still too lazy too stand up and instead enjoyed the early morning sun

Image

and when we reached Tihongonyeni waterhole a lot of buffaloes were already around

Image

some were already lying in the waterhole whilst others were producing a lot of dust already

Image

but all of them were extreme willing to pose for us

Image

Image

and so we happily took shot after shot.

Image

to be continued……..
