It has two petiole, is hairy, long legs, long antennae and a male, so not a cisticola, flycatcher or any other LBJ
Am I on the right track looking up the myrmicinae

?????

Yes, Liz, it's getting to be more difficult than LBJs! At least there you know it's a BIRD, here we don't even know if it's a bird, a plane, or SuperMan

Weird.
Toko,
YOU'RE GOOD

(and/or I'm BAD

)

You are right, they do seem to be different!
I went back to my pics, and I do have 3 pics of one w/ black antennae, a few white patches on the thorax, and a rust/red abdomen,
and about 8 pics of one w/ yellow/orangish antennae, lots of speckles/spots on the thorax, and a dark stripe on the abdomen.
I'll divide them into two entries again (like you so astutely did

), and add a couple pics. Thanks!

Toko: "Am I on the right track looking up the myrmicinae?"
I believe so. I can just post it as Subfamily: Myrmicinae
I did read this just now, so looks like we're not the only ones confused and perplexed by this one:
"In general, male ants are very difficult to recognize.
Male ants have confounded taxonomists for centuries, dating back to Linnaeus (1764), who described the first male ant as a wasp."
Finally, if anyone is having trouble falling asleep tonight, I have a sure cure for insomnia:

Re:

KTP
Calliphoridae, Rhiniinae. Probably a Rhyncomya species per Diptera.info.
Okay to proceed?
I suppose I should put it under Rhiniidae, not Calliphoridae, however.
