then we stopped also for another brown snake eagle with the bluest sky in the background,
a yellow billed stork in the distance and a beautifully posing goliath heron in the best evening light.
It was such a lovely evening and we enjoyed also a grey heron

and finally also the yellow billed stork a bit closer.
We for sure enjoyed another braai with that lovely view down onto the mighty Olifants river at least as long it was bright enough otherwise the rush of the water was extremely loud and also the wind is always blowing there and on top one of our regular dinner friends was willing to pose.

Wednesday, 20.02.2019 – Olifants

Explored roads: H8 – S44 – S93 – S46 – H1-6 – S95 – H1-6 – S62 – S95 – H1-6 – S46 – S93 – H8 – S89 – S92 – H8

After the obligatory coffee whilst the light got brighter and we were about to pack everything we do need during our drive into the car there was suddenly a loud rumbling from our neighbour bungalow I first thought someone might had fallen but then I saw the culprit – it was a honey badger and with the appearance of our neighbours on the verandah to check out what caught the noise the honey badger ran to the edge, balanced a bit there on the rocks and then unfortunately disappeared on the other side so no shot but at least we saw one.

First stop on our first Olifants morning is always the view point on the S44 and so it was today – Not many people around there early morning and on top you are allowed to leave the car and so we walked to the edge and simply enjoyed the view and whilst scanning a bit more the area we spotted white fronted bee eaters and a grey heron staring over the river
and to our luck the just landed cinnamon breasted bunting was willing to pose and not at all shy.

Down in the river on an island a crocodile took an early sunbath
and not to forget the view same is always so peaceful and simply breathtaking there
especially in the early morning sun. I simply can stand there for hours and would never get bored but as our time was limited we carried on
to be continued…..
