Renosterkoei voor kalf afgemaai
27 June 2013

These guys phoned Petronel this morning for some advise on getting him stable. If they have any difficulty the guys from Working on Fire are on standby to go and fetch him with the helicopter and bring him to Care for Wild. He is only 3 weeks old which could pose a big problem :-(

To translate briefly:

"On Tuesday a month-old calf was found licking his dead mother's dried blood and vocalising loudly, causing even the most hardened invetigators to become emotional. He has been taken to a place of safety. This was in Nwanedi Reserve, near Tshipise. Ballistics were to be done today on the bullets. Then a poacher arrest blah blah, unrelated."

Correct Sprocs. There's a lot of politics and egos in this business. Petronel is still trying to convince them

Hi Penga I may as well admit that I avoid this thread though very aware!!

I do this because what comes along with this senseless slaughter are scenes
of distraught and suffering of animals that mean no harm too humans!!
As we always stare into their eyes for meaning, so do they stare into our eyes
asking questions!!

I cannot but only feel obligated to answer these questionable stares in a dying
situation. Hence I rather overlook and not see mortal animal plea.

Not a very good shadow that I cast upon me, for casting a blind eye to these
kind of scenes will not help the animals in question neither society at large and
best me, at all!! I have a problem that urgently needs to be addressed!!

It hurts!!
