The very nature of the 7 year delay regarding these hotels speaks volumes, and should raise a red flag regarding any common-sense evaluation, no matter who has visited camps or lodges in the past.
It is pretty obvious that money changed hands at the beginning, leading to a directive that hotels should be built after that. Now all sorts of funders have been drawn into this, including taxpayers, mindlessly.
There has been shocking manipulation of measures by SANParks, re the PDZ debacle. End of story there. They have come up repeatedly against level commercial minds, uninterested in politics, which has been the downfall. Government even cautioned them in the first place, but that innuendo was ignored.
Politics can only go so far, and ultimately these ventures have been proven to be political in nature....ignoring nature.
Sorry for the developers, EIA's and planners who had to come in later to salvage the mess.
The anti-corruption/excessive expenditure tide is turning in the country as we speak, and SP will be no exception.
