The department of environmental affairs is expected to release the final 2014 rhino poaching statistics soon but the latest statistics from December show 1155 poached animals. That is already 151 more than the total for 2013.

These are the numbers as of 18 December.

But the point is that DEA have not released an official update for a long time, last update on the official website is from 20 November

and many international media refer to this in the latests annual reviews
