South African National Parks (SANParks) confirmed on Tuesday, 5 June, that Kruger National Park's Punda Maria Gate remains inaccessible to visitors dues to protests in the area.

The service delivery protests began on Monday, 4 June, at a village outside the gate (about 8km away) on the R524 blocking entry to the Park's Punda Maria Gate.

"Guests are advised to use alternative gates such as Pafuri and Phalaborwa to enter or exit the Park until further notice. The situation is being monitored closely," says SANParks.

Meanwhile at another national park - Addo Elephant National Park - the Park's main gate is also inaccessible to visitors via the town of Addo.

So Kruger has to sustain all the populations around the park, but they make it impossible for tourists to get there! O**

Guests of Kruger National Park traveling to and from Mozambique are informed that Giriyondo Border Gate is inaccessible as a port of entry/exit due to community protests taking place between the Giriyondo Border Gate and Massingir District in Mozambique today, 5 September and is blocked at the moment.
“Guests are advised to for now use alternative routes such as Pafuri Border and Crocodile Bridge Gates to enter or exit the Park until further notice,” Isaac Phaala from SaNParks said in a statement.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF ROADS IN THE MARULA NORTH : the roads S48, S47 and S69 will be temporarily closed until further notice. The closure is due to the slippery condition caused by the recent rain.

The S106 Rabelais road was also closed yesterday, says leachy.
