sightings like that happen always when you are either in a hurry or do have car or better to say battery trouble

At least your nearly had no choice to drive that way so you were on top rewarded with wonderful sightings especially the cheetah and the sable were fantastic

Sable have been hanging around there for the last few years!

That tar road virtually always has cats, especially if it is dry!

Yes, in this case, bad luck led to some good sightings.

It was a good morning in the end.

We entered the park at Kruger Gate again and then headed down the H4-1 and found 2 male lions along the way.



About 7kms from Lower Sabie there was a bit of a traffic jam and we heard that a leopard had been seen but had already disappeared. We checked in easily and were soon settled into our riverfront bungalow. I spotted an African Paradise Flycatcher but it would not stay still long enough for a clear shot.



I did manage to get a clear pic of this Long-billed Crombec.



For our afternoon drive, we decided to head back down the H4-1.



When we got to where the leopard had been spotted earlier, we decided to give the area a good scan. The bush was very thick and the Brat was looking through the binoculars. We then heard some bird and impala alarm calls and the Brat suddenly said "You won't believe this but there's a leopard on a kill!" I couldn't believe it!! I eventually managed to find what he was looking at but these were the best pics I could get as there were just too many branches in the way!









I gave up trying to take pics but the Brat managed to get some video.



Other cars were stopping and although we tried to tell them where the leopard was, it could only be seen from where we were parked. A hyena then ran down the road and into the bush and the leopard disappeared. Someone else did see the leopard when it moved and we hung around for a while but didn't see it again. This was an amazing find by the Brat and definitely proved his superior spotting skills!!

Love the paradise flycatcher - They are always so fast

In the video, the leopard shows quite well

Lovely rare birds I have never seen any of them

Those flycatchers are rare in winter!

And never seen a crombec.
