TR , you do not have to look for him . He will find you . In fact , he has already made contact with you . He is more sneaky than those babbies at Cape Point

Hi trailrunner
I agree with everyone else, that if you can change your accommodation to more than one night, you will be a lot more relaxed. Packing up every morning is quite a schlepp, but arriving at a camp knowing you are there for a couple of days is awesome...it will also allow you to explore the area properly.

If there is nothing available at the moment, book what you have, and you can always change your bookings before your trip...just check the SP website regularly for availability, or as others have said, you can make changes when you are in the park.
With regards to your Olifants booking (one of my favourite camps

), see if you can get one of the perimter units overlooking the river - the ones with the best views are the BBD2V units, but the BD2U and BD2V also have nice views. The NG2 units are also perimeter but don't have as nice a view as the others.

You might want to try the Olifant's restaurant for a birthday lunch which has a deck overlooking the river, but I've never eaten there so can't tell you what it's like.

Thanks for the great advice Flutterby

working hard on getting my head around possible changes.
If something crops up at Olifants with a view especially on the 29th that would be great just keeping my fingers crossed.
Just busting my head with the two nights at Tzendze and might end up sacrificing the camp thing I don't mind roughing it a bit but not my wife's favorite thing but she has made peace with the fact that it is just two nights.

It does mean that I have to schlep a tent from Cape Town which is another consideration in terms of space.
So much great advice I have had from this, site folk have all been super helpful just feeling a touch overwhelmed as I had everything plotted in my head and had to radically revise our plans, but as so many have said at least i am in the park and have secured accomoddation.
Really do appreciate the suggestion and advice will keep you posted regarding developments.
Thanks Trail.

Hey trailrunner
even if you can not change your bookings, it's still cool. Have done one-night stays several times and it's a great way to explore the park and not only one area. If you are adults only and manage to pack clever and only take what you need to the bungalow you can pack within 15 min. Still time to do an early morning drive, come back to camp, pack and leave for the next picnic spot for breakfast, spend the time until check-in on the road.
Camping for two days only

is indeed a stress, I would try to change these days to non camping accommodation. Have you checked if Mopani is available, it's one of the last camps to be fully booked.

TR , I see you will be driving from CT to KNP . Are you doing it without stopovers ( which is not holiday IMO ) , do you need advice on this , using diesel vehicle , require info on where to get it cheaper than the normal highway robbers fuelstops ? Which way will you drive , via Bloem or Kimberley ?
Just ask , its all available on this one-stop forum

Thanks Toko
Yes, now strongly considering changing the two camp days if we can get an alternative booking as I think that even if that's all we manage to change and we can get into a bungalow for both those nights it may avert the additional stress. I will check out Mopani.
Cheers Trail.
