I've only just found this TT. ^Q^ ^Q^ (Non-SA TT's do seem to be in different places in the Forum). I'm very pleased to catch up on your trip. We missed each by a couple of days in a few places. Also some of the Austalian birds that were completely new to me are familiar now and I'm pleased to see them again in your TT. O/\ O/\ O/\ Interesting you saw, as I did, Mr and Mrs Superb Fairy-wren - mine were quite close together, were yours?

The absence of Kangaroos was noticeable for us too. We spent most of our time on the coast and saw maybe 6 or 8 Red Kangaroo road kills. We nearly added one ourselves when one came out from the bush and ran a couple of feet in front of the car. No road sense at all. I did see a couple of live ones but no opportunity for photographs as we were travelling at the time.

Looking forward to more.

Hi Mel 0/*

Your images of the outback and the changing colours of Uluru are absolutely stunning [O]
And how lucky were you to have a nearly full moon in the photos as well!
Way cool O:V

And it's interesting to hear you say that the colours of the dunes reminded you of the KTP.
I had exactly the same experience when Dad and I went to Africa.
Many of the landscapes and even some of the plants and birds were very similar to here in Oz \O

Really loving seeing parts of Australia I am yet to visit :-0 :-0

Lovely pics!! \O \O We met an Aussie couple in iMfolozi, and they said that SA is the only country that has prettier birds than they do! :-0

I find it quite fascinating that both of us were down there at almost the same time! Luckily we didn't have to look at as many dead kangas as you did... But then again, we hardly saw them somewhere along the road. In fact, only once in full sight. And I made the SO stop for them otherwise I wouldn't have got more than that one photo I just posted. 0*\

The superb fairy-wrens were foraging together. \O

I haven't fled the forum =O: But yes, I was absent for an unusual period of time. Will be gone again end of October ;-)

Thanks, Sweeties 0/0 The full moon and clear skies made up for the rain elsewhere ^0^
Mind you, once you embark on a trek (half)way around Oz and visit the Uluru as well - expect crowds
at the campsite, light pollution and not too favourable birding. But otherwise it's awesome! Oh, look
out for the the wedge-tailed eagle. Maybe not common-common there, but the chance to spot them
are rather good. \O

As for the birds - I was actually surprise to see quite a few acquaintances (if only in the bird book :O^ )

My weather app said sun for Sydney today? 0:

Hmz, not sure about the 'prettier than SA birds' part, Flutts. I think, the Ozzies do have some beautifully coloured birds as well.
I'd call it a draw. =O:

Quite an impressive and large bird. I'd say the size of a martial eagle! O:V

And some frogs (melou, any idea? O-/ ) that gave me the fright of my life because another one started
to jump through the shower cubicle when I had just turned the water on. Spots said I was hear for miles :O^
