I just cannot believe it O/ O/ What are they DOING??? Only talking about strategies? IMO there are no more excuses. The Government and Sanparks have had two or more years to prepare and combat this plague and still these poor creatures are dying every day because of a stupid superstition. The excuses are not valid anymore

What is the opposition in the parliament doing? I have not heard anything from that side lately, only a few interrogations which receive ambiguous answers :-?

If I lived in SA I would at least have organized an anti poaching march in front of parliament or something similar. Even the media are silent which is maybe the worst! It is their duty to keep the population informed on important subjects and the rhinos are much more important than the usual gossip on starlets and similar

Those on the ground are still working, I believe!

Communities neighbouring Reserves provide refuge to poachers, and largely don't see what the problem is, in the short term. However, it seems that that problem has been recognised, and may be the way forward!

The Mozambique chaos is a similar and worse problem, and that is SA Government's achilles heel, IMO, as they are too sh@t scared to alienate an ally! There!

Is Mozambique an ally to SA? In what and against what? They most likely have commercial agreements, you tell me, but other than that I cannot see what kind of alliance there can be -O- They do not even have an agreement of exchange of accused criminals (0!)

The OSCAP "stats" don't reflect the real numbers either, it's just a collection of what OSCAP has heard of.

Whenever DEA releases new stats, the numbers are higher.
Meanwhile, confusion reigns in official circles about how many rhino are being poached.

Two senior SANParks staffers recently said 120 rhinos had been poached so far this year in Kruger Park alone. But Environmental Affairs Minister Edna Molewa told the parliamentary portfolio committee 158 rhino had been poached in 2015, 108 of them in the Kruger.

The department had not provided a definitive figure by the time of going to print.

OSCAP stats do not list 108 rhino poached in Kruger. -O-
